The first time you take a 6-year-old roller skating, you spend most of the session bent over holding their hands. Your back hurts, they fall anyway, and everyone leaves a bit sweaty and proud.
The rink you pick changes how that goes. Some sessions are packed with fast teenagers, and some are built for little kids and wobbly parents. We checked each rink's own schedule and FAQ pages in late September 2026. Prices here come from those pages. Rinks change their calendars every month, so treat this as a starting point and check the session before you drive.

United Skates of America (Tampa)
5121 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa 33603 Β· unitedskates.com/tampa
If your kids are under 10, start here on a Saturday morning. The Kids Fun Skate runs 10 a.m. to noon for kids 10 and younger and their parents. It's $10 per person with rentals included, and the music is Disney and pop. It's a much calmer rink than an evening session.
The Saturday Learn to Skate class runs from 9 to 10 a.m., right before Kids Fun Skate. It's open to kids and adults, and the current calendar lists it at $15 with rentals, wrist guards, and skate mates.
Weeknights are cheap. Family Fun Night on Wednesdays (6β8 p.m.) is $8 with rentals. In October 2026, Tuesday nights become Skate N' Play, which costs $10 and includes a rental and a 20-credit game card. Non-skating adults get in free at Skate N' Play. Sundays run 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at $15 with rentals, or $11 if you bring your own skates.
Things to know:
- Kids 2 to 17 pay full admission whether they skate or not.
- Rent a Skate Mate when you buy admission. It's a walker on wheels, and it saves your back.
- The smallest rental skate starts at toddler size 6. It adjusts and goes on over their shoes.
- Card payments carry a 3.5% fee.
- There's a skate shop inside if your kid decides they need their own pair.
The rink held its first Sensory Skate Day on September 6, 2026, with low music and no flashing lights. We didn't see another date on the calendar through mid-October, but watch the events page if your kid needs a quieter room.
Skate World Tampa
7510 Paula Dr, Tampa 33615 Β· unitedskates.com/skateworld
Skate World is on the west side, in Town 'n' Country, and has the same parent company as United Skates. It also has laser tag, which helps with siblings who get bored of circling the rink.
Saturday's All Day Skating runs noon to 6 p.m. Admission is $12 and regular skate rental is $5. For $25, the Unlimited Skate & Play adds unlimited laser tag and 20 game credits. Non-skating adults get in free at regular sessions. Kids 3 to 17 pay admission and rental unless they bring skates.
The cheapest night is Cyber Monday Skate (6β8:30 p.m.), with $5 admission and $5 rental. Pizza Party Wednesday is $12 and includes rental and all-you-can-eat cheese pizza, so it can count as dinner.
Learn to Skate classes are on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m. A local skate club runs them. The Monday class is $10 and includes rental skates, wrist guards, and a Skate Mate if you need one.
On Monday, October 12, 2026, there's a Fall Festival Skate from noon to 4 p.m. It's $10 with rental and a bounce house.
Astro Skate of Brandon
750 W. Robertson St, Brandon 33511 Β· astroskatingcenter.com/brandon-florida
Astro is the rink to pick if you live east of I-75, and it's usually the cheapest of the three Tampa-area rinks. Admission and rental are priced separately. Regular quads rent for $3, and skate trainers rent for $5.
Saturday is the day to go with small kids:
- Learn to Skate, 9β10 a.m., $12 with rental. You can stay free for the 10 a.m.βnoon session afterward.
- Tiny Tot, 10 a.m.βnoon, recommended for ages 7 and under.
- Family Night Skate, 6:30β9 p.m.
Wednesday has a 6 p.m. learn-to-skate class for $10 with rental. The class includes the free pizza skate that follows. The Free Pizza Skate (6:30β8:30 p.m.) is $7 plus rental, with free pizza in the first hour. Sundays are open 1 to 8 p.m. The Low Dough Skate from 5:30 p.m. costs $4 plus rental.
Homeschool families can use the Homeschool Skate on the first Friday of each month, 11 a.m.β1 p.m., $7 with rental.
Astro Brandon is closed to the public Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, except for private parties. The first Tuesday of the month is a Christian Night.
Astro also has rinks in Pinellas Park (10001 66th St N) and Tarpon Springs (875 Cypress St). Both run Saturday 9 a.m. beginner lessons. We didn't verify their full weekly schedules, so check each rink's page.
SpinNations Skating Center (Port Richey)
8345 Congress St, Port Richey Β· spinnationsskate.com
This family-owned hardwood rink in Pasco is worth the drive if you live in Trinity, Land O' Lakes, or Wesley Chapel. It runs Family Fridays, Sunday FUNday, learn-to-skate and speed skating classes, and birthday parties. Its prices and hours load inside a booking widget that we couldn't verify, so check the hours page before you go.
Birthday parties at a roller rink
Roller rink parties are some of the easiest parties in Tampa to throw. The rink handles skates, the table, and usually food. Here's what each rink lists right now:
- United Skates Tampa: Packages start at $250 for 10 kids. The site lists a $199 fall special for up to 10 guests through October 2026. Outside cake is allowed only with a reserved party.
- Skate World: Parties start at $18 per child, with a 10-child minimum. The site also lists a Sunday special starting at $130 for 10 kids.
- Astro Skate: The Cosmic package is $15.99 per child and the Super Galactic package is $18.99, both with a 9-guest minimum. The Wednesday-only Low Dough party is $99 for 7 guests. The Tiny Tots + Lessons package adds a 9 a.m. lesson before a 10 a.m.βnoon party. Parents of the birthday child skate free, and there's a $75 deposit.

First-timer tips
Get there at the start of the session. Tampa rinks sell sessions in blocks, and you pay the same price whether you arrive at the start or with 40 minutes left.
Sign the waiver in the car. Every rink here requires one for every guest, even non-skaters, and the line at the counter moves faster when yours is done.
Rent the walker. Skate Mates or trainers cost a few dollars and turn a crying 5-year-old into one who wants to come back. The rinks ask you to rent it when you buy admission, not once you're inside.
Bring socks. Rental skates go over bare feet otherwise, and nobody wants that.
Wrist guards are worth it. Kids fall forward onto their hands. United Skates and Skate World include wrist guards with their lessons.
Skip the late sessions with small kids. Teen nights and jam skates are fast. Astro Brandon's Friday teen night is recommended for ages 11 and up and doesn't allow skate trainers.
Leave outside food at home. None of these rinks allow outside food or drinks, except cake with a booked party.
Roller skating also works well on rainy afternoons. See our rainy day activities guide for more indoor ideas.
